Week 2 report

25/09/2025

A quieter week this week in terms of matches but some great results again coming in.

In division one Fleetwood A and Kirkham A started off their seasons.
After the levels Fleetwood Ladies were on fighting form but it was Liam Richards and Tim 'Disheveled' Shipway who broke the Fleetwood Men's streak. The promise of a pint for every game Shippers won obviously worked a treat. Unfortunately it was Bispham parish church floor which came out worse after Tim tore up a fraction of floor boards and gracefully untuned the piano with his almighty dive for what was clearly an unreachable shot. His glasses were collected after being flown in the opposite direction to other court somehow still in tact and Shippers continued as if it was just a normal day in the office.
Overall a really enjoyable night and trip to the Elk afterwards. Well done Fleetwood for a 23-1 win.

This seasons promoted Stanley A hosted Kingfisher B.
Stanley A's ladies took all 6 games while the men's was a lot closer with Kingfisher B leading the men's 4-2.
Going into the mixed it was 8-4 to Stanley. Again, some fantastic scores in the mixed with two games both being split by each side.
Overall it was Sarah Raynor who was the only Stanley player to take all 8 games and Chris Farrer POTM for Kingfisher B who took 5 games. Well done Stanley for a 16-8 win.

In Mixed 2 Fleetwood B hosted Project 12.
A very close match overall which finished 15-9 to Fleetwood.
Project 12 ladies, Jessica Bagley, Sarah Jackson and Pen Yates played some brilliant ladies games taking all 8. Another fine example of a Blackpool Junior playing competitively in the league and very well played indeed Jessica.
Unfortunately in the mixed both Jon Jackson and Sarah Jackson (playing with different partners) became injured and sadly had to concede a total of 3 games.
POTM go to both Anthony Cross and Manoj Manandhar who took a total of 7 games for the winning side. I wish both Sarah and Jon a speedy recovery and hope to see them back on court as soon as possible.

Lightning B hosted Stanley C. It was Angela and Karen who took the only winning game for Stanley.
Special mention to Lightning B's Izzy Sleighthome who played up for Lightning and won 7/8 games. Really well played Izzy!

There were no levels matches this week to report on.

In addition to last week's report I have received an email regarding Lightning C. This is a team made up of 6 junior players whom have never played in a competitive adult league and for many, this was their first competitive game outside of their junior clubs. Really well played to Lightning C and I look forward to watching their progress throughout the year.

It really is brilliant to see a number of new teams entered this season in particular Lightning C and Kirkham Juniors who are purely youth teams but not forgetting all Juniors playing in Levels and mixed teams in Divions 1 and 2.

For those enjoying the outdoors, enjoy the weather while it lasts, I believe it may be a wash out over the weekend and the sun is due to go back into hiding.

Again, if anyone has anything to include please don't hesitate to message or email me.

Thanks have a good week.
