Match Report 31.10.23

01/11/2023

Division 1
Kingfisher A v Hesketh-Fleetwood A: 8-16 The ladies started the match with a strong 6-0 lead. The men fought hard and levelled with 3-3 and the mixed games ended with 5 games for Hesketh-Fleetwood A and 3 for Lightning A. Two games went to setting and many others were high scoring. Elizabeth Andrews was POTM with a 7 games win. More POTM stats to follow in coming weeks.
Hesketh-Fleetwood B v Stanley A: ……. As always between our two teams, the match was a played in a very good spirit. There were some really well fought games, e.g. the first ladies game (Katie & Nicky vs Kathy & Natasha) was a great game and could have gone either way. Overall lots of close games at 21-15+ and a very close last mixed game at 24-22, which Sheena & Manoj narrowly edged from Reehan & Kathy. Some really good badminton played by both teams with some excellent rallies all round. Again, 3 of the Meakin family featured for Stanley!
Division 2
Kirkham A v Hesketh Fleetwood C: 20-4. The ladies made a solid start to the match from Kirkham A by taking all 6 whilst the men split two matches and at half time the score was 10-2 in Kirkham’s favour. Lindsey and Mike, Annie and Anthony both managed to score another two mixed games but Kirkham proved too strong and the end score was a sound win of 20-4.
Stanley B v Lidunians A: 4-20. At the top of the Mixed 2 leader board, two more teams battled it out this week with Lidunians A securing second place in the league behind Kirkham A who is currently in top spot.
Levels
Kirkham v Lightning B: 11-5. Three split games and one game 2-0 for Lightning was not enough to challenge the current leaders of the Levels but high scoring games means the competition is still healthy.
Lightning A v Bloomfield B: 16-0 A solid win for Lightning A meant they remain second in the Levels league behind Kirkham Charter Levels.
