What a great 2 days of tournaments we have just had. Huge thanks you to those who played, 44 players mainly from Blackpool & District but players traveled from Chester, Manchester, Wythenshaw, Liverpool, Preston, Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham and Kirkby Lonsdale. The age ranged from 15 to 67 (nearly 68 ie yours truly!) and many ethnic groups represented.
The events held were: Ladies Doubles, Men's Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Open Singles and every event played in a sporting manner. Handicaps I thought worked pretty well considering the amount of games which ended 21-20. Apologies to my 2 young Kirkham friends who thought their handicap was harsh but, I do hold you with such high regard. others who complained about their handicap progressed through their group and one even won the event without dropping a game!
Handicaps ranged from -15 for Singles legend Adrian to +7.
My thanks also to those who brought refreshments especially Eddie, those homemade samosa's and chicken bites were really great. Thanks to my partner Manoj for the dairy milks and, I believe he now needs 2 weeks rest after running round me! Thank you to everyone for complying with the "No Deep Heat" request although, Kelly did have an allergic reaction to some spray during the day and had to leave the sports hall and take medication. Thankfully, she was able to play on.
Congratulations to Mario who played badminton singles for the first time and, on his birthday as well. His present is now his body is aching like it never has before!

It was a pleasure to run the events for you my friends and next season we may split them into two separate Sundays or Saturdays and, hold the Open singles either on a Friday night or hold it before the doubles. Apologies to those players who just entered the singles, I am sorry you had to wait so long to start your competition.
If any of you have any thoughts please share them with us on the Group Chat so all players can express their views and, Gee thanks for the sample shuttles, I will be trying them this week and will provide feedback for you.
